Visiting
a city like New Delhi is not only enlightening and fun, it also open
doors to many other places nearby. It has various tourist towns and
cities just a few hours away by road and the same goes for pristine
hill stations. This article talks about a foolproof trip from Delhi
to Agra and back in the same day.
A
vacation need not be confined to a city alone, especially when you
have two impeccable destinations just near each other. While on a
trip to Bangalore, cities like Chennai and Coimbatore may be too far
to add to your itinerary, same goes for Mumbai as Goa is too far if
you are looking for quick cheat destination from your trip. Delhi is
lucky to have two beautiful cities just near it. Agra and Jaipur lie
just 4 hours away from Delhi. You can visit either one of them on
your trip to Delhi. Delhi
to Agra distance by train is just 200 km while it is just
around 250 km away from Jaipur.
To
enjoy a foolproof vacation to these cities on your trip, set aside
two days for Agra, or if your days are numbered, a full day is good
enough. Make your way Delhi first and do away with all the
sightseeing you need to do while on stay there. Do your shopping,
exploring and visiting the historical sights during the first half of
your stay in Delhi. Do not indulge in social and nightlife during
this time as you will be hungover the next day and end up spending
the next day lying flat on your hotel bed. Once you are done with all
you have to see, head back to your hotel and book yourself and early
morning taxi to Agra for the next day.
Agra
can be reached from Delhi in under three hours by road, depending on
the stops you make along the way. If you start early by around 4-5
am, you should reach Agra by 7-8 am! You can spend the first-hour
having breakfast somewhere in Agra and then head on with your
sightseeing. It is better recommended you hire your taxi for the
whole day so that you can use the same taxi for your to and fro
journey plus your sightseeing. Hiring a separate cab or taking the
auto rickshaw will cost you too much. Visit the Taj Mahal, Agra Fort
and all the other historical sites. Try their popular sweetmeat
‘petha’ and buy some of them to take back. You can also go for
some last minute souvenir shopping. Souvenirs from Agra mainly
comprise of small Taj Mahal replicas and paintings of the monuments.
Once
you are done with your Agra tour, head back to Delhi by evening. You
do not want to start too late as once it gets dark the highway trucks
start taking up the road which makes it unsafe. Head back to your
hotel in Delhi and retire for the night getting the much-deserved
rest. You can start off the next day by making your way to south
Delhi. South Delhi, unlike North and central Delhi, is the proper
‘New’ Delhi. All the top shopping malls, pubs, bars, and
nightclubs are located in this part of the city. Unlike the northern
side of the city, this part is mainly inhabited by young working
professionals who go about their 9-5 on a daily basis and let loose
during the weekends. Weekends are the most happening time in the
city. Almost every pubs in popular areas remain bustling with
youngsters with their group of friends. The most popular place to
hangout for youngsters is Hauz Khas village, an urban village. This
area is dotted with pubs and bars over a series of concrete boulevard
where cars are not allowed in. If you want a crazy nightclub
experience getting wasted but also budget friendly, head on here! You
can also visit the pubs in ambience mall towards Vasant Kunj, or go
behind the Saket Select Citywalk mall where a bunch of pubs and bars
are located.
After
experiencing both the older and newer side of Delhi and paying a
visit to Agra, you can truly say you experienced Delhi at its
fullest!
