If you want to be far away from such a bustling vacation, visit Dibrugarh in the state of Assam. This peaceful and serene place is a perfect getaway for all those who wish to escape from the maddening crowd of the popular tourist places of India, as the north-eastern India is not so popular yet, among the regular tourists. It includes two adjacent revered graveyards of the honourable officials of Ahom Dynasty, Dihingia Barbarua and Deka Dihingia Barbarua. There are several other graveyards erected in the place, to honour the soldiers of that regime.


  1. Koli Aai Than: this famous spot in Dibrugarh is dedicated to the daughter of the head priest of Dibaru Satra of Assam, Koli Aai. Satra was in the dire need of a male heir, but could not get one, due to which it started disappearing. Koli Aai kept Satra alive by being its soul, enlightening the people with her thoughts and beliefs. Since then, it is believed that Koli Aai is blessed with holy powers and her sermons still vivify the place. Do not fail to visit this enchanting place.


  1. Lekai Chetia Maidam: this graveyard is dedicated to Lekai Chetia, an official of the Ahom kingdom. This important and revered place is located in Sessa area near Mankato road in Dibrugarh.

  1. Sarumechlow and Bormechow Maidam: these two graveyards are believed to be of the queens of King Khampha Khura of the Ahom regime, Sarumechlow and Bormech Low. They are located in the Lengeri mouza locality of Dibrugarh. The place is so peaceful and surrounded by heath covered moors. It is a place which peps the interest of the history lovers. Must visit and explore such relics of history.


  1. Dehing Satra: this was a very popular satra during the period of the Ahom king Rajeswar Singha. Its ruins are still seen on the banks of the Dehing river under Laura mouza in Dibrugarh. The place is breathtakingly beautiful and serene, and one can even enjoy photographing the spectacular vistas.
